Experimentation painting on perspex

Today was all about experimenting with acrylic paints and alcohol inks. I had a bit of a rocky start because I was not following some of the techniques I had learnt from artist Richard Rowan. However, after a period of trial and error, I began to find my way with the process.

I started using cotton buds to remove areas of paint and create negative space, while the alcohol inks produced organic splashes and unpredictable patterns across the surface. I then applied acrylic paint over the top, building up certain areas and making them more opaque. This created a real sense of depth and texture within the work.

One of my favourite aspects of the process was watching the inks fuse together. The colours bled & blended  beautifully into eachother, creating soft gradients and transitions that felt natural and fluid. These effects were difficult to control completely, which made the process even more exciting.

Overall, I am really pleased with some of the pieces I created. This feels like a process I would definitely like to develop further, as it combines experimentation, spontaneity and layering in a way that I find both enjoyable and visually rewarding.
