We 3 Create workshop

We 3 Create workshop

On my way home after class, I walked past the back of Broadway Theatre and noticed a sign about their upcoming workshops and art work displayed in the shop front.

I decided to pop in and spoke to a woman called Claire. We got talking about the different sessions and who could attend, and the conversation naturally moved on to the type of art I am currently creating, painting in response to music. What we both found really interesting was that Claire had created a crochet piece in response to music as well, where each colour represented a different note from a folk song.

She invited me to come back and take part in a creative workshop called We 3 Create. I attended the session on 7th November and took my children’s great grandma, Carole, with me. It was really special to share the experience with her and get her creative juices flowing.

During the workshop, we worked together on a collage, building up a scene using cut-outs from magazines and other papers. The session felt relaxed and welcoming, with no pressure to produce a finished outcome. This made the experience enjoyable and confidence-building, especially for Carole.

Sharing this creative time, just the two of us, felt meaningful. The workshop reinforced my interest in process-led making, collaboration, and shared creative experiences, where the act of making and spending time together is just as important as the final piece. Working alongside Carole also made me realise that I would like to explore more collaborative work with my classmates in the future.
