A quick window shopping in the Range store

Seeing this high-gloss rhino artwork has made me think about working onto Perspex again. The smooth, resin-like finish reminded me of the way Perspex reflects light and creates depth. I have used Perspex in both my first year and second year FMP, mainly exploring layering and transparency, but this time I am thinking about approaching it in a more abstract way.

I like the idea of creating abstract painting directly onto the Perspex surface. The gloss and clarity of the material would allow colour to feel suspended, almost floating. It would also change depending on the light and what sits behind it. This could open up new possibilities in terms of depth, reflection and perception.

Looking at this close-up image above, I like the smooth high reflective surface with the texture on the top too.

I saw this wooden ornament above, and it reminded me of the piece below called TURMOIL 2016, exhibited at the Lakeside Arts. Quiver by Kate MccGwire.
