Artist research- AB Creative

AB Creative is a contemporary mixed media artist and educator whose work focuses on texture, layering and intuitive mark-making. What draws me to her practice is the way she builds the surface before thinking too much about the final image. She often works with accessible materials and demonstrates how depth can be created through layering rather than detailed drawing. This approach encourages me to think about structure and physical texture as part of the composition rather than just a background for colour.

I am particularly inspired by her process-led way of working. She allows materials to interact freely, embracing unexpected marks and imperfections rather than trying to control every outcome. This will encouraged me to be more confident when responding to music, allowing colour and texture to develop instinctively. Through researching AB Creative, I am learning that experimentation and risk-taking are essential in building a personal visual language, especially within expressive abstraction.
