Project Proposal

This project is about my life growing up in London, before I had my children. I want to explore the places that shaped me, the roads I walked to school, the bus journeys I took to work, and the views from my old home. These were the paths I traveled every day, and the memories before I moved to Nottingham.

I want to create a series of light up boxes to go with the 'Walk With Me' light up box that I made for the Castle brief. I want to use a mixture of media this time around, like wood and perspex. I also want to create different sizes. I do not want to go to big with card again as I found the card warped.

Although this work is about a time before I had my children, I still want to include them in the scene. I would like to experiment showing them not as full figures, but only through their negative space, the outline of them doing something. Whether it will be my son playing football or my daughter doing handstands or dancing. This way, they become a part of the world I was once a part of.

1st test piece of paper cutting- Castle brief

I want to use the vines I created on my previous page for my main piece. I wanted to create a simpler test piece to see how it will work. This link will take you to the process of my  paper cutting  for the lightbox. I am going to move forward with laser cutting my layers as it will cut the layers out alot cleaner and quicker than by me using a scalpel. I need to figure out how I will sketch up the different layers. I'm not sure how I will line up all the layers. Maybe I can use tracing paper so I can see how the layers line up.

Troubles with tracing- Castle brief

  Tracing the vines Even though I found difficulties tracing the vines, I still managed to make out a rough guide of the vine and where I couldnt I just made up my own flow of vines. I want to make the landscape I create, look over grown & hard to see things. I want the viewer to feel as though they are peeking through having to move their head from side to side to look over & under the vines.
