Extruded larger clay pieces after firing Traces of Landscape

 Large All Fired Up

I was really happy with how my larger pieces looked. I'm glad it didn't break as I'm happy with the organic shapes I was able to create. I'm really happy with the finish of the white earthen wear clay and after speaking to James I decided it was best not to glaze them and leave them natural. Rather than sit the large pieces in a bed of resin, which was what I was going to do with my test pieces. I thought it would be a good connection to set them in a bed of black oil to represent the black oil on the roads and motorbikes.

Rather than use black oil I decided to use black ink instead as I only needed it to look like oil for when I photograph the ceramic pieces.
I experimented with some of the smaller extruded pieces first to see how it will work.

I think the black ink works well in replacement of the black oil. I really like the high shine and how reflective the ink is. The way the ink envelopes the sculpture and wraps itself around the curves really defines the curves and shape of the piece.

I need to make a frame that is big enough for my Large extruded ceramic pieces and waterproof to hold the black ink.
