I want to use the vines I created on my previous page for my main piece. I wanted to create a simpler test piece to see how it will work. This link will take you to the process of my paper cutting for the lightbox. I am going to move forward with laser cutting my layers as it will cut the layers out alot cleaner and quicker than by me using a scalpel. I need to figure out how I will sketch up the different layers. I'm not sure how I will line up all the layers. Maybe I can use tracing paper so I can see how the layers line up.
Being part of the JELLY & LACE exhibition at Nottingham Castle Gallery was a real privilege. To have my light box, 'Walk With Me', displayed in the main gallery space felt like such an honour. It’s not every day you get the chance to exhibit your work in such a historic and respected venue, so I feel incredibly lucky and proud to have been selected. The gallery space where my piece was displayed was mainly lit by natural light coming through the skylights. In contrast, some of the other rooms were much darker, and I think that kind of lighting might have suited my work better, especially as it’s a lightbox. Even so, Walk With Me still had a strong presence in the room. It could be viewed clearly from a distance, and being positioned directly next to the Victor Pasmore painting I was responding to gave it added context and significance.
