Profession Practice- Talks with Tom

The guide to art galleries for emerging artists-

I could approach a pub owner to ask if I can put it in his pub.

Check backlit as they have something on. My work might fit what they are looking for.

Art development-

City arts might be a way for me to get employment opportunities, as I have experience working with children in youth groups, schools and adults with events.

I will follow art agencies to keep up to date with opportunities for funding.

I will contact Air Arts for opportunities to work with children in hospitals doing arts and crafts and I will need to update my DBS.

Workshops and skill sharing-

When I would work in a school doing model making I can adapt the media I use. For Example where I may work with wire for safety reasons  I could use straws instead.

I would try and get funding for equipment, time and travel. Funding for outings, visits to galleries and museums will need funding. For this I would look to Council Grants and Arts project funding.

I can use my experience of Beauty Parties where I taught makeup and beauty in the planning, and costing . This has also given me experience of how to organise group activities. I have also been asked to volunteer at a school during art week so this will give me the opportunity to experiment with some ideas.

Art and the law-

I would like to be freelance working in different places so I need to be self-employed. I need to keep up to date with public liability insurance so I am covered if anyone tries to sue me and tax regulations which covers how much I can earn and payment of national insurance. It would be good for me to get a mentor through the Prince's Trust as it will help me on the business side.
